Mike Voltmer grew up in the construction industry in Minnesota and worked his way through Luther College as an electrician. After graduation, it seemed natural to continue in that industry so he formed Voltmer Electric in 1974. Their first project was the electrical division of the new Decorah Airport Maintenance Hanger. The business was later incorporated in 1977 and continued to grow primarily concentrating on commercial, industrial and highway related projects.
Since his youth, Gerad Voltmer has been active in all phases Voltmer’s operations with a brief interruption to serve his country in Afghanistan. Gerad serves as the company president and along with excellent associates, many who have been with the company for decades, continues to expand by participating in the areas of traffic signal, airport and highway specialty work.
Voltmer Inc. holds electrical contractor licenses in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. July 2019 will mark 45 years in business.
